MORE ON WEDDINGS...

Many of the musical selections on the previous page were picked out for wedding ceremonies, and can be used in a variety of times during the occasion. When Scott plays for a wedding ceremony, he arrives at the location well before the beginning and plays background music starting when the first guest arrives, he plays whatever has been picked out for the ceremony itself, and then more background music until the guests have left the area. Sometimes, if desired, Scott will also play music for the cocktail/dinner hour before the band of DJ starts...AND HE CAN ALSO BE YOUR DJ, this makes a very nice transition into the reception. For the ceremony itself, usually Scott will play a tune for the seating of the Grandma’s and Mom’s, something for the Bridal Party, a piece for the Flower Girl and/or Ring Bearer, the Processional for the Bride, maybe something special during the ceremony, and a Recessional. All of the musical choices, of course, depend on the particular ceremony and Scott is completely flexible and able to customize any wedding ceremony to the Bride and Groom’s wishes.

Here are some of the more popular musical selections, and when they work best during the ceremony:
  • Canon in D – Pachelbel: This is a beautiful melody, and a very popular ceremony piece, it is an eight bar theme that repeats itself over and over, changing a little each time. It starts slow, at a nice walking pace and can be used as a Processional, for the Seatings or for the Bridal Party’s entrance.
  • Ave Maria– Schubert: A gorgeous piece of music put to religious text, Scott plays a fantastic instrumental guitar version that most always brings tears to peoples eyes. Ave Maria is also at a nice walking pace, lending itself well for Seatings and the Bridal Party’s entrance, it also can be used as a solo during the ceremony.
  • Por Ti Mi Corazon – M. Ponce: This is a Mexican love song from the mid-twentieth century, it is very romantic, has a recognizable melody and can be used anywhere in the ceremony.
  • Romance for Guitar - Anonymous: A well known guitar melody, it is quaintly romantic, and can be used anywhere in the ceremony as it sounds great played either slow or faster for the Recessional.
  •
  • Lagrima - F. Tarrega - An exceptionally beautiful piece written for the guitar during the Romantic Era. Perfect for any entrance or played faster and an exit tune.
  • Jesu Joy of Man's Desire – J.S. Bach: The most well known tune Scott play’s at weddings, everybody has heard it sometime during their life. It can be played slow for the beginning of the ceremony, works very well for the Processional, or can be played a little faster for the Recessional.
  • Air on the G String – J.S. Bach: A slow paced, but very moving and emotional song that works well for Seatings and Bridal Party entrances. It is also a very popular song for a solo during the ceremony.
  • Minuett I – J.S. Bach: Very nice up tempo, happy, bouncy song’s perfect for the Recessional. These were originally written for harpsichord, but they lend themselves well to the Guitar.
  • Gavotte -J.S. Bach: Very nice up tempo, happy, bouncy song’s perfect for the Recessional. It was originally written for harpsichord, but also lend itself well to the Guitar.
  • Theme from Ode To Joy – Beethoven: Another piece most everyone has heard, played at tempo, it is great for a Recessional, but can also be slowed down and used anywhere during the wedding ceremony.
  • Is There Anyone Out There? – Pink Floyd: Popular with the younger crowd, this song has been used almost everywhere during wedding ceremonies, even for the entrance of the officiant.
